Toluwani (she/her) is a Black queer poet and writer born in Nigeria and based in New York City. Books were her best friends growing up and writing became her primary outlet in high school. At 16 years old, after she read “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action” by her idol, Audre Lorde, she fully committed to being a fearless and powerful author. Four years later, she shared her personal writing with the world for the first time through the self-publication of her chapbook, Find Your Mother.
Currently, she is exploring—through personal reflection and interviews with friends and neighbors—how and why her body, her house, her hood, her countries, etc. are “home”?
